Conventional subsidy and public-budget distribution mechanisms are vulnerable to fraud, misuse, and administrative inefficiency. Governments face difficulty ensuring that public funds are spent precisely as intended, while beneficiaries, including unbanked individuals, often lack accessible means to receive and utilise targeted financial support.
MultiKnip is a blockchain-based programmable payment system that allows governments to issue purpose-bound digital funds with embedded rules defining who receives money, how much, where it can be spent, and for what. Recipients can redeem funds through a simple QR code and PIN, requiring neither a bank account nor a smartphone, making the system broadly inclusive.
Deployed in nine Dutch cities, including Emmen, Parkstad, and Groningen, supporting over 100,000 users for use cases ranging from energy-poverty relief to sustainability incentives. Recognised by the European Blockchain Regulatory Sandbox and currently expanding to Germany and the Western Balkans.
