Early growth
Organic waste in Ukraine (pruned branches, food waste, agricultural residues) is commonly burned or landfilled, causing air pollution, methane emissions, and lost economic value. At the same time, rural communities, SMEs, schools, and military units face unreliable and fossil-fuel-dependent energy supply, especially under war-related grid instability.
Zavod Carbon Recycle developed Horynya, a smokeless, autonomous, modular biomass gasifier using advanced pyrolysis. The system converts organic waste on-site into thermal energy and electricity, biochar (permanent carbon removal & soil amendment), and additional byproducts (biogas, bioethanol, clean water).
The model combines decentralized waste management, local energy generation, and carbon sequestration, supported by IoT-enabled monitoring and future carbon traceability.
Zavod Carbon Recycle delivers measurable climate and energy impact by converting organic waste into clean energy and enabling carbon removal. Each Horynya unit diverts biomass from burning and landfills, sequestering around 80 tons of CO₂ per year (up to 240 tons with upgraded units) through stable biochar while eliminating methane emissions and air pollution. The system provides 600 kWt of daily thermal energy (scaling to 900 kWt thermal and 600 kW electricity), enabling full energy autonomy for rural enterprises, schools, and critical facilities independent of fragile grids.
