The challenge

The prevailing global environmental crisis, ranging from climate change, air and water pollution to biodiversity loss, poses serious problems to sustainability. It affects species, citizen’s lives, and future generations’ use and enjoyment of natural resources; however, there is an insufficient level of awareness among citizens regarding climate change, environmental sustainability, and the abovementioned global challenges.

The solution

Our solutions are to:

  • Establish a new quasi-formal network of civil society organisations (CSOs) from Turkey and the EU in the area of environment and climate change.
  • Strengthen organizational/institutional and learning/teaching capacity of the newly established CSO network through digitally engaged workshops and training.
  • Strengthen the CSO network’s ability to carry out outreach and communicate with its constituency and citizens through digitally engaging campaigns and trainings.
  • Promote strategic collaboration between the CSO network and public authorities at local and/or national levels by advocating the education models and participating in the decision-making process with a special focus on city councils in general and their environmental sub-branches if available.

Results

We have established the CSO network and have started to provide digitally engaged workshops and training. We plan to combine all of our activities/services on a digital platform where individuals and organizations can strengthen their capacity and learn from each other by building networks.
