Children who live in institutions can benefit from services until they are 18. After leaving institutions, they no longer have access to sufficient guidance and face various difficulties in adapting to social life and in accessing sufficient social resources in adulthood. As Koruncuk, we provide social care services to more than 400 children within Bolluca Children’s Village. Some of these children stay on to live in semi-independent houses. However, we encounter difficulties in reaching out to those who have moved to another institution or changed city after leaving Koruncuk. Especially amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, it has become more challenging to communicate with them and provide the support they might need. We want to be more accessible to young people who have not been able to access our services during the pandemic.
To facilitate the transition of children and young people who have been supported by Koruncuk, we plan to create a platform that will provide them with easily accessible resources and expert support to answer their questions. Through an online platform, we want to create an information pool where young people can acquire the skills they need in their new lives, learn about legal processes, and ask experts questions. This platform will also provide the opportunity for one-on-one online services. In the long term, the project will bring young people and volunteers together. Further, it will serve as a data pool for us, where we can keep track of these young people’s needs and actions more systematically.
